Nü-metal was a mix of over-budget, TRL and behind-the-scenes tragedy. This list pays tribute to 10 men who were larger than life on stage and still near and dear to our hearts off stage.

Wayne Static

It Static-X frontman commanded the stage with his distinctive bite, larger-than-life hairdos and wicked disco sounds. Static-X may be greater today than during the group’s early days. One of the unique people of Nü-metal, Wayne will leave the world in November. 11, 2014.

Jason Luttrell

Jason: was the unique frontman of Primer 55. Jason:His scream mixed with his rap rock flow gave it away Primer 55 his trademark voice. He was a gentle giant and quiet off stage. Jason: would listen to the nu metal revival and would love to hear the stories of his voice inspiring vocalists to pick up the mic. unfortunately Jason: accepted on 10.08.2018

Matt Holt

Nothing face nü-metal is one of the most underrated bands in the world. Matt would mingle his singing and shouting over his crushing tones Tom Maxwellthe guitar of Nothing face was ahead of their time and definitely had an impact on the whole scene. Unfortunately, we lost Matt on April 15, 2017

Paul Gray

As one of the founding members Slipknot:, Paul Gray wrote some of the band’s biggest bangers. Paul: had a heavy hand in writing ‘Surfacing’ and ‘Spit It Out’. Corey Taylor is on record calling the bassist Slipknot’s “secret weapon.” Paul: left us on May 24, 2010 at the age of 38.

Joey Jordison

Joey Jordison was one of the most influential drummers in all of metal. In Slipknot:, Joey Jordison A smash hit hit the airwaves and he would go on to inspire a whole new generation to pick up the sticks. When not to crush the drums Corey and the boys Joey would pick up the guitar and kill it Murder dolls. Joey died on July 26, 2021.

Chi Cheng

Deftones bass player Chi Cheng elevated the group dynamic by not always following through Steph:the riffs of No was a sight when he was on stage. His dreads would fly all over the place and his backing vocals brought a punk rock aspect to the band. No left this country on April 13, 2013 after spending nearly 5 years in a coma following a tragic car accident in 2009.

Shifty Shellshock

Seth Binzerbetter known as Shifty Shellshockfrontal Crazy Town: and had great success with the hit “Butterfly”. Humble She also had a reality TV career with appearances on Celebrity Rehab and Sober House. After a short pause, Humble has been reformed Crazy Town: and performed with the band until his death. Seth: was found dead on June 24, 2024.

Lynn Straight and Dobbs

the manic frontman of Snot, Be a strait was known not only for his vocals but also for his antics on stage. Lynn once arrested for walking out on a giant Limp Bizkit toilet naked and participation in some extracurricular activities. unfortunately Lynn never came to court because he died with his beloved dog Dobbs on December 11, 1998 during a car accident.

Chester Bennington

Linkin Park is the gateway band for many small metalheads and Chester had a larger than life voice. Hybrid theory has sold over 32 million copies worldwide. Fred Durst even stated that if not Chesternü-metal “would never have reached the masses and affected so many lives.” Chester left us on July 20, 2017.

Dave Williams

Dave: called “Stage”. Dimebag Darrell for his out-of-this-world presence in front of the crowd. Dave: It only took one album to cement his legacy. “Bodies” is a nu metal anthem and permeates pop culture to this day. We lost sadly Dave: Williams on August 14, 2002 Drowning pool was at OzzFest.
