Rumored Cate Blanchett

Screen Rant: What was the inspiration behind this film?

Evan Johnson: Well, it’s my fault for writing a lot of it, but the idea came from the three of us sitting in a room together for years, observing our own group dynamics and how frustrating and difficult it was to get anything done. A team meanwhile, while we’re doing this, sometimes and every year the news comes, the G7 summit comes, and we watch it, and it’s entertaining for us. These figures are fun to watch walking around or having dinner together, and it will make us laugh. Eventually, those two strands, us sitting in a room trying to brainstorm, and the G7 on TV, they naturally came together, and we knew what we had to do next.

The giant brain is made of styrofoam and latex

In the movie Rumors, the characters still stand by the big brain

Screen Rant: What are giant brains made of?

Galen Johnson: A styrofoam base and then some latex and then some flammable material on top so we can light it on fire.

Guy Madin: Yes. It’s got an incredible carbon footprint. Huge brain. terrible sorry It’s really tempting to touch. If you were in person with it, you wouldn’t be able to resist.

The cast all came together after Cate Blanchett signed on

“We’ve got our number one choice across the board.”

Screen Rant: This is such an incredible cast, can you talk about bringing them together?

Guy Maddin: They started when we first got Roy Dupuis, the part was written for the Prime Minister of Canada. Then when Cate Blanchett joined the cast, we stopped checking off our wish lists. It was amazing. You get what you get when Cate connects to your project.

Evan Johnson: Nothing funnier. That’s the best part of the process is having Kate and then looking around the world and then being like, and you’re in our movie, you’re in our movie, and everybody does it.

Guy Maddin: We’ve got our number one choice across the board.

Rumors are many different genres “gently massaged together”.

“It’s a soap opera, but we have to admit it’s a comedy. Even we have to admit it’s a satire.”

Rumored Cate Blanchett

Screen Rant: How would you describe this movie to someone who knows nothing about it?

Guy Maddin: It depends on who it is. If it’s my accountant brother-in-law, it’s a movie about the G7, and if it’s someone who’s more inclined to like horror or something like that, I’d say it’s about the reanimated bog mummy or something, because it’s a lot of genre gently an insociant carefree. Massage together with.

Galen Johnson: We make it for whoever asks.

Evan Johnson: It’s a soap opera, but we have to admit it’s a comedy. Even we are forced to admit that this is a satire.

Guy Maddin: I didn’t think so either. I was shocked when people started laughing at its premiere.

Screen Rant: This movie has a lot of different genres. How do you find balance?

Guy Maddin: It’s probably just instinct. When writing you just go along and go, that’s enough for now. It’s just sort of a gut instinct. You just don’t want to be perceived as taking yourself seriously for more than two-thirds of a page or half a page. And then it’s a little bit of a matter of that. It’s probably like improvising a dish in the kitchen or something like that.

Evan Johnson: When I read or watch a movie, I like to be surprised, especially by something that seems very funny and maybe silly to me, I like to be suddenly surprised by something. A tonal shift in something with deep feeling. It’s hard to pull off, but we tried.
