CANNIBAL CORPSE GUITARIST ERIC RUTAN LEAVES TOUR ‘DUE TO CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE TO HIS HOME FROM HURRICANE HELEN’

Hurricane Helen has absolutely devastated the southeastern United States over the past few days AP: It was reported yesterday that at least 64 people had died in the storm and millions were still without power. The Washington Post It described Tampa County, Florida as the “epicenter of Florida’s death toll from Helen,” with the region’s Pinellas County having the highest death toll of any Florida county. Unfortunately, Tampa is home to legendary death metal band Cannibal Corpse since 1990. And it looks like guitarist Eric Rutan suffered some pretty serious property damage from the storm.

Cannibal Corpse announced yesterday that Ruth he will withdraw from the band’s current tour due to storm damage at his home. “Due to catastrophic damage to her home from Hurricane Helen, Eric Rutan he left the tour to be with his family at this time,” the group’s social media pages said. “Our hearts go out to Eric: and his wife as they deal with this situation.”

Cannibal Corpse kick off their European tour with Municipal Waste, Immolation and Schizophrenia on September 20th in Oberhausen, Germany, and with Rutan’s temporary departure, there don’t seem to be any plans to miss any dates. In the comments section of Cannibal Corpse’s Instagram post, fans revealed that the band performed at the Birmingham UK date as a four-piece band.

We certainly hope so Eric Rutan and his family are safe and we wish them continued safety and recovery at this time as they and many families throughout the region recover from this devastating storm.
