Kid Omega wins the ‘Most Death’ award among the X-Men
X-Men #1 By Jed McKay, Ryan Stegman, Marte Gracia and Clayton Cowles
Quentin Quire isn’t the mutant most involved with the cycle of life and death, but he’s been inextricably tied to it since his first days at Xavier’s School. His first death was due to abuse of the drug “Kick” (which apparently still affects his memory).. He ascended to another plane of existence until his body was restored, and this eventually trapped him in a long cycle with the Phoenix, which he would host at various points. His continued Phoenix connection may partly explain why death never stands still even though it should.
Yet it was his time with X-Force in Krakow that won him the unexpected “most deaths” award. Countless X-Force missions resulted in Queer’s death, and Quentin used his frequent resurrections to cosmetically alter his body. Later, a high-stakes battle with Cerebrax even erases his records from Cerebro, making it impossible to resurrect him. Nothing keeps QQ away forever though, and Quentin eventually returns as an old man from the future. Not even the gateway exploding and being evacuated by the Sabreteith army did the trick, nor did it stop his severed head. Kid Omega isn’t necessarily hard to kill, but death seems to be a temporary state.
Death still takes a toll on Kid Omega
Queer’s latest brush with the Reaper ended after all the dead mutants returned from the White Hot Room, but the frequent deaths took their toll. He has experienced voids in his memory since the protocol, which has left him feeling less whole, and recently admitted that the kick exacerbated the memory loss. He’s lived and lost more than his constant smart face and attitude, and repeated deaths have helped shape him A more thoughtful, reflective person – albeit at a great cost. Kid Omega More died than his colleagues The X-MenAnd the cycle shows no signs of stopping.
