Devin Townsend is now streaming his new single ‘Jainism’ from his upcoming record PowerNerd:which will be released on October 25.

On the record itself and creating the whole thing in 11 years, Townsend “It was a conscious thing. I thought. “I spent so much time thinking about all aspects of my work; what if I didn’t?’ Maybe I’d have a chance to be a little more direct with what I’m trying to do, I really wanted to see if I could cut through the kinks.”
On what exactly a “powernerd” is, Townsend “I would say that an underdog is someone who has a tendency that society has deemed weak or not valuable, whether it’s empathy or being an insular person or being an introvert, and turns that into a type of personal strength. It’s like. “Okay, yeah, I’m sensitive about this, that, and the other thing, but man, I’m going to do things that are rooted in power.”
