Haley Heynderickx has released her first new album in six years. A seed of a seed Arriving digitally on November 1st and physically on December 6th (via Mama Bird Recording Co.). The Portland-based singer-songwriter has shared a music video for her second single from the album, “Foxglove,” directed by Evan Benally Atwood. In the video, the two go on an adventure on a grassy mountain while Heinderikx sings and bangs on a stick. Watch below.
The long-awaited sequel to Heynderickx’s 2018 debut feature, I need to start a gardenled the July single “Seed of a Seed”. While that song was about getting your time back, “Foxglove” looks forward to dreaming of an easy future. “[It’s] my dream tune seeks a slower and simpler pace of life,” he explained. “Sometimes everything seems so far away. to live in a city so far removed from a life connected to nature.”
Lyrically, A seed of a seed centers around the ways in which we distance ourselves from nature in a world of technology and over-consumption. To round out the album’s credits, Heynderickx is joined by drummer Daniel Rossi, trombonist Denzel Mendoza and bassist Matthew Holmes, with additional parts by electric guitarist William Sage Marsh and cellist Kali Drain.
