Billy Maximoff is technically dead at Wandavision

Wonder Hex is coming to an end

When Wanda realizes the pain and suffering she has caused to the real people of Westview through the Hex, the Scarlet Witch chooses to bring down the magical dome in the end. Wandavision. However, this meant giving up both the visions he created and their children, as they were all products of Hex. Technically, this means that both Billy and his brother are dead (even though they weren’t really conventionally alive in the first place).

But the post credit scene Wandavision While reading the Darkhold, Billy and Tommy see their mother calling out, setting goals for her dark future Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Claiming real versions of his sons from another reality in the multiverse. Now, a few episodes Agatha All Along The ones released so far reveal a mysterious teenager (Joe Locke) releasing Harkness from the spell Wanda locked him in. Wandavision. However, it is revealed that Tin’s real name has been blocked by a magical sigil, effectively hiding his identity and history from all witches. said, Trailer and Poster for Agatha All Along Tin is seen wearing the same colors and headband as Wiccan, the Young Avenger that Billy eventually turns into in the comics. (And the dress that young Billy wore of Wandavision Halloween episode).

Similarly, it has been theorized that Tin’s desire to take Agatha to Witches Road may be a way to bring the Scarlet Witch back from the dead, assuming she is really Billy. Although there have been some hints that the teen may be Agatha’s own long-lost son Nicholas Scratch, Most signs point to Tin eventually being revealed as a new and older version of Wanda’s son, Billy Maximoff. Although it remains to be seen exactly how, the original comics provide an answer for Billy’s possible return.

Marvel Comics answers how Billy could return

Mephisto is a reincarnated lost soul

Billy and Tommy in Wandavision and Mephisto in Marvel Comics

Although the details are different compared to the MCU, the original comic versions of Billy and Tommy Maxim were also created by Wonder Magic. Similarly, Scarlet Witch had to release them the same way, inadvertently creating them using pieces of Mephisto’s soul that she tried to reabsorb.. That said, Wanda’s love for her sons proved too strong, and the reabsorption nearly destroyed the demon lord.

To that end, Fragments of the Maximoff boys’ lost souls are eventually reincarnated as Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepard, who are born into new families while developing powers in their teenage years.. Eventually the Young Avengers become Wiccan and Speed, with Billy and Tommy discovering their true past as brothers. This leads to their subsequent reunion with Wanda whose memory had been erased years before by the ‘Agatha Harkness’ of the comics, when she first hoped to help Wanda grieve over the loss of her sons.

How we think Billy can always come back to Agatha

Reincarnation adaptation of the comics (but with some surprising twists)

Overall, it’s hard to say how Billy (or his brother) might return to the MCU, though the comics certainly provide the perfect precedent for a reincarnation path. Marvel Studios is likely looking to follow the comics’ lead, albeit with its own twist, just as it did Wandavision. That said, Joe Locke’s tin definitely looks the part of a reincarnated Billy Maximoff/Kaplan and Agatha All Along Feels like the perfect project to ensure his return.

It seems that how Scarlet Witch’s son makes his return to the MCU will be some form of reincarnation.

It’s also worth noting that Mephisto himself was finally confirmed to appear in the MCU thanks to Agatha All Along. However, this does not mean that Mephisto’s soul will be revealed as a fragmented piece of the MCU’s Billy and Tommy like in the comics. Additionally, the comics themselves retconned this part of their origins, seeing Mephisto claim their lost souls instead of simply being a part of himself. Regardless, it seems that how the Scarlet Witch’s son makes his return to the MCU will be some form of reincarnation.
