Warning: Spoilers ahead for Season 3, Episode 1!from The Season 3 premiere revealed just how dangerous the town is about to become, which leaves me feeling unprepared for the devastating fall Kenny (Ricky Haye) will have to deal with in the episodes ahead. from Season 3, Episode 1 ends with the monsters unleashing the city’s farm animals onto the streets. as characters from Working together to get them back to the pen and barn, Boyd (Harold Perrineau) and Kenny’s mother, Tian-Chen (Elizabeth Moy), are left to bring a cow into the barn. However, they are ambushed by the creatures, who were waiting for them inside.
The monsters follow from Boyd is subdued, forcing him to watch as they slowly tear Tian-chen apart. Given the brutal sound and Boyd’s reaction at the very end of the episode, it’s safe to assume the town’s beloved member has been killed. This marks a dark turning point for the show, as the city’s leader is now being targeted by monsters and persecuted at the expense of the people he’s trying to protect. But I know Kenny will be the most affected Because of the circumstances surrounding his mother’s death.

He leaves to help Jim find Tabitha
When the city was being attacked by animals, Kenny was not present, having left with Jim (Ioin Bailey) earlier in the day to find his wife Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno).. from Season 2 ended with him at the lighthouse, brought back to the real world by the Boy in White. However, no one in town knows what happened to her after she left, prompting Jim to leave to find her. Kenny decided to go with her, knowing that it would be too dangerous for him to find her on his own.
As night falls, the pair hunker down in a small, abandoned village, the noise outside prompting Jim to decide that they should head back to town in the morning. By the end of the episode the pair are still in the village, together from Season 3 didn’t reveal Tian-chen’s death to any of them. It makes me worry what will happen to Kenny emotionally when he finds out his mother is dead And he wasn’t around to stop the monsters from killing him. I’m most concerned because of how she reacted to losing someone close to her before.

The loss of his father and the return of Sara almost pushed him over the edge
During Season 1, Kenny’s father, Bing-Kian Liu (Simon Sinn), is killed when the voice tells Sara (Avery Conrad) to open the door to the clinic. This causes Kenny to spiral into fear and despairThings get worse when Boyd reveals that he may have developed Parkinson’s. However, he still sticks with the sheriff as a father figure, a vocal dissenter in an attempt to venture into the woods to find a way out of town. But, by the end of season 1, he’s become more of a leader than ever, with the city using him as an inspiration to protect others.
Since Kenny and Jim are heading back to town, he will likely learn about his mother’s death in the next few episodes.
However, his life takes a turn in season 2, when it is revealed that Sarah is alive and Boyd wants to reunite her to help solve the city’s mysteries. Kenny is hostile towards him, still blaming him for the attempted murders of his own brothers Nathan (Paul Gino) and Ethan (Simon Webster), as well as Bing-qian’s death. This makes him push Boyd awayOnly when he realized the greater power at play did he embrace the group again. from from Season 3 reviews have been positive, I think Kenny’s reaction to his mother’s death will be equally devastating to his character.

Kenny can make quick decisions for revenge
As Kenny and Jim head back to town, He will probably learn about his mother’s death in the next few episodes. When this happens, he will no doubt be horrified and saddened by the news. It would probably be sadder because of his absence, which would make him blame himself. He will also discover monsters from Won’t hurt Boyd, killing Tian-Chen in front of him because that monster killed him in season 2. This can drive Kenny to go on a bit of a rampage, trying to get revenge on the animals by endangering himself.
I’m sure Kenny had a devastating fall from Season 3 will have lasting effects for her characterWhen he learns of his mother’s death sends him into another spiral. However, with Tabitha out of town and potentially able to learn more about their situation, he manages to survive long enough to escape with everyone. However, what happens to Kenny will only be determined by what he decides to do in response to his grief and how far it takes him on his path to revenge.
