Opt recently announced their new record Last will and testament With opening single “§1” that had a roar. And yes, everyone has lost their minds. Now on to the interview Coffee with Ola, Opt front man Michael Akerfeldt He said he’s not mad that people are excited, but he wants some fans to be more open-minded about the non-roaring material.

“I choose not to be nervous. I’m an old guy. I decided I was just going to accept, e.g. “You love it. You love that I do those things. OK. I’ll be happy about that.” But it’s also that we’ve done four records in a row that people have liked, but it’s been so focused on screaming that I almost want to troll, just make a crappy record. a real disgrace, an obvious disgrace, with great screams and see what they think.”

Not yet Åkerfeldt said that roaring on the new CD was fun and a good way to give the main character a shot Last will and testament distinctive sound.

“Yes, maybe it’s 50-50, maybe more. But it was fun to do it again. I hadn’t done that Opt record for quite a long time. Watershed was the last one [album] with that kind of vocals. I wrote the songs. I started with the one called “§1”. So I tried some screams to see if it fit the music because I hadn’t written music with the intention of having that type of vocals in a long time. So I didn’t know if it would work, but it was great for me. So I said OK. Also, it’s a concept record and has given voice to that main character of the story. “Okay, I’ll try.”
