Sublime’s long-form biopic has been cast as the lead actor. KJ Apa will play the role of late singer and bandleader Bradley Nowell, Deadline reports. Blue Bayou Filmmaker Justin Chon is also set to direct the film, and he’s writing the screenplay with Bobby Hurds. Chon and Hundreds will be based on an original draft by writer Chris Mundy.
When an as-yet-untitled Sublime film was announced in 2022, Francis Lawrence was listed as the director, though he is now listed as an executive producer. Original Sublime members Bud Goh and Eric Wilson are also set to executive produce, along with Nowell’s son Jacob and his widow Troy on behalf of the late singer’s estate.
KJ Apa, best known for his role as Archie on the CW series RiverdaleIt is reported that he has been working on the role of Nowell for two years. The actor is also a musician. he released his debut album, Clocksin 2021
