WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR POISON WAR: Lethal Defender #1! when it comes poison Science, onethe avenger-type’ group of symbiote heroes was never really possible – or, at least, it never succeeded. With the exception of original franchises like Venom and Carnage, the others always seem kind of bland without enough personality to make them memorable. But now, that’s about to change, as Marvel’s wild new symbiote team finally delivers poison His own ‘Avengers’ lore.
in Venom War: Lethal Defender #1 by Sabir Pirzada and Luca Maresca, Silver Sable and his Wild Pack are hired to break into a Life Foundation laboratory and secure a ‘package’ that is of great importance to his client. Given that this task is performed at runtime poison war – meaning populated areas are overrun by undead symbiote monsters called zombies – the Wild Pack comes ready. Each member of the Wild Pack is given their own symbiote, which should be familiar to Venom fans.
Each symbiote is one of five that the Life Foundation forcibly created in the early days of birth from Venom. Deadly defender 90s series: Riot, Phase, Lasher, Agni and Scream – with the addition of a new symbiote, Flicker. However, unlike their previous appearances in the Marvel Comics canon, this time around, these symbiotes will eventually be remembered as an Avengers-esque symbiote squad.
The Life Foundation symbiotes finally got the 1 thing they were missing: great hosts
Hosts have always been generic for Venom’s descendants, now they’re interesting
The current members of Silver Sable’s Wild Pack are: Puma, Lightbright, Tarantula, Carl Stricklan, and Lina Abbas (after the death of the final member, Navab Tajvar), and Silver Sable himself. Granted, these aren’t the most A-list characters in Marvel Comics, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less interesting, especially once bonded with their personal symbiotes.
Wild Pack members such as Tarantula and Puma have their pre-existing superpowers enhanced and integrated by the physical forms of the symbiotes, changing their appearance and making them different from each other in terms of abilities. Not only that, but with Silver Sable, for example, the symbiote changed completely, as she bonded with Agony to become something entirely new: the Silver Symbiote.
In other words, the bonding process fans are witnessing here is unique in that symbiotes are molding to their hosts like never before, and the results are spectacular. Each symbiote brings something different to the table, from looks to abilities, which is something that has been lacking from symbiote teams in the past (including these symbiotes in their team’s original form).
The future is bright for this Avengers-esque symbiote superhero team
Deadly Guardians already has a rich lore in Marvel Comics
While this team is still technically Silver Sable’s Wild Pack, the symbiote enhancements they’ve embarked on are called “Lethal Protector Mode”, a fitting name for this symbiote team going forward. These symbiotes make their debut Venom: Deadly repellent #4 as Venom’s enemy when he was known as the Lethal Guardian (in his early days as an antihero). Now, the symbiotes have come full circle, becoming lethal defenders themselves long after Venom dropped that title, shedding their villainous pasts to become a team of Avengers-like heroes.
These symbiotes are familiar but underused, have a rich history in Marvel Comics lore that reflects a team name, and their modern redesign and superhuman host make them more interesting than ever. In other words, the future is bright for this wild new symbiote team, as it finally delivers poison own knowledgethe avenger‘
