Mew Break Up |: Big fork

Mew splits up. The Danish band will say goodbye and celebrate their 30th anniversary with a pair of shows next year. See those tour dates and announcements from the band and frontman Jonas Bjerre below.

Singer Jonas Bjerr, drummer Silas Utke Grae Jørgensen, bassist Johan Vollert and guitarist Bo Madsen formed Mew in 1995. They released their first studio album, Victory for manin 1997 and eventually found themselves under the Sony Music umbrella for albums including: Frenger and the standout And balloons with glass hands. Madsen left Mew after 2015 + –and Mu released another studio album in 2017 Visuals.

Dear Frangers!

Next year is Mew’s 30th anniversary. It’s been quite a journey, leading me and my beloved band mates on countless adventures for which I am eternally grateful. And none of this would have been possible without you Frangers and your support. This is something I have never accepted and never will.

This journey will be over for me. Next year will be my last year with Mew. I’ve realized it’s time for me to go on another journey personally and focus on other creative projects. I’m so happy that we can play these farewell shows and that I can go on one last trip with my dear friends and co-founders Johan and Silas, as well as Dr. and Mads Wegner. I will write a longer post about all this soon. For now, I can’t wait to see you at the shows next year!

30 years? No one in their right mind would have guessed we’d still be here back in 1995 when we started making noise in Jonas’ teenage bedroom. But we did. Maybe we were out of our minds, on a mission. We dared to dream, and dream big together.

Today we have been around the world. have played more shows than we can remember and yet it feels like yesterday sitting in that noisy bedroom trying to make a band. We’d like to invite all our Frengers around the world to celebrate our 30 years of Mew! We’re super excited to play these shows because they’re a really special occasion for us, you and Mew.
