guitarist Mike Spreitzer to leave DevilDriver: 20 years ago last week.

Spreitzer quoted DevilDriver: Not feeling like a full-time job for the past 10 years as the main reason, later stating that he never considered a side project Venus in Verona to become his main gig. To his side project, Spreitzer “Just creating my side project was met with a lot of negativity from a particular individual, which made things extremely uncomfortable for me.”

Now on to the interview Scott Penfold from Loaded radio, Spreitzer identified the “specific individual”. DevilDriver: vocalist Dez Fafara. Spreitzer also noted that he is cold-hearted with her Fafara reform Coal chamber twice when he was in the band and not sure why a side project would be a big deal.

“Unfortunately, yes. I really hoped it wouldn’t be a problem and I have a lot of friends who get a lot of support from the groups they work in and who they consider their boss. Nita [Strauss] and: Alice Cooper; Ozzy has always been good Zac Wylde doing Black Label Society and: Zack Saturday. Caesar [Soto] from ministry – I remember when he was first released Man The Mute: record that he did, I bumped into Al Jurgensen once at an art show and he just couldn’t stop talking about how proud he was of it Caesar.

Monte Pittmanhe’s in ministryetc madonna it looks good when he does it. And even Zac Wylde with his drummer Jeff Fab; [Jeff] just released a self-titled record. And so I didn’t really see that as a problem. I never set out to cook Verona is a priority DevilDriver:. I had a lot of time during the pandemic and I just wanted to keep writing, so I did.”

He continued. “Yes, unfortunately it is, because I did give him my blessing when Coal chamber started doing even when they were on their first date. And during their first meeting, frankly, I needed a break at the time. Unfortunately, I think that was a big reason that led to it John Beckley and: Jeff Kendrick leaving the group [in 2014]because DevilDriver: went to recess, and then it was not in their interest to stay there.”

Spreitzer also said he did not speak Fafara about leaving DevilDriver:saying: “To be honest, I didn’t speak Dec about it. No, I haven’t. I’ve seen how things have gone when other members have left the band, and I honestly felt that this was the best way to do it.

“I don’t really want to get into it more, for obvious reasons, but all the other guys understood where I was coming from.” Spreitzer continued. “And I want to work harder, and as of right now, unless someone knocks on my door that wants me to join a band, which depending on the band, I’d definitely consider it, but right now I want to go all out. with a breather. with my new project On the Venus of Verona.

“I’m excited to do things my way and mix things up. obviously Verona sounds very different than DevilDriver: — It’s a completely different style of music — and it’s time for me to do something new. It’s been 20 years and it’s been a lot of fun, but sometimes people just want to move on, and that’s how I feel right now.”
