In February, Portland power-pop artist Mo Trooper announced that he would be releasing a new album called Svengali via Lame-O Records. The following month, however, the label said it would no longer release the album due to “recent information” about Troper.

Lam-O didn’t elaborate on the “latest information” about the troper, but the label wrote: “We send healing thoughts to Maya and victims of abuse everywhere.” The news came after Tropper’s former partner, Floating Room’s Dov Stoner, whose legal name is Maya, accused him of abuse.

Tropper called Stoner’s allegations “false,” and in June he sued Stoner for defamation. Tropper and Stoner have now settled the lawsuit, according to a press release from Vera PR.

In his affidavit, Stoner, who has publicly sought funding for his defense in the case, wrote that their allegations against Tropper “have affected him and his career.” They continued. “Although there were some issues with our relationship and it was emotionally draining for both of us at times, Mo was not abusive to me as that term is defined by law. I will continue to work on other aspects of our relationship privately. Trooper and I have signed a mutual no-contact agreement, and I will not publicly disparage him again.”

Mo Troper has been released Svengali in May via his own Day to Day Records.
