This week started with the sophomore edition of these PNW bad boys. With a similar nameCoffin rot“You can already imagine what this is going to sound like, and it doesn’t disappoint in either expectation or performance. I know some weeks I lean a little too much on prog or atypical metal stuff. Not so this week though. Here’s some more great death metal. This time you get brief tracks, and lots of them. It’s hell to be a fan of this band as this is their third album in four years.

The Ice Tomb – Lightless space

The Weekly Injection. New releases from NIGHTWISH, UNTO OTHERS and more this week 9/20

Genre: Sludge/death metal
The origin. Denver, Colorado

On their second album The Ice Tomb are back after a six-year hiatus (Ben left a record and three EPs behind Cammy’s may be to blame for it) with so much fury. This hits hard like a sludge record, fast like a death metal record and black metal in the dark. Tons of grind too.

Kublai Khan TX – Skill Exhibition

The Weekly Injection. New releases from NIGHTWISH, UNTO OTHERS and more this week 9/20

Genre: Metalcore/Hardcore
Hometown: Sherman, Texas
Tag: rise

Here’s another one that hits HARD. This after a breakdown on low speed guitars. Furious as hardcore and manufactured as death. I know these guys are already on the rise, but this will probably accelerate that rise.

Nightwish – Yesterwynde

The Weekly Injection. New releases from NIGHTWISH, UNTO OTHERS and more this week 9/20

Genre: Symphonic/Opera Metal
The origin. Kitee, Finland

Here’s one with some fluff. night wishA first album in four years might take a little tweaking. This is the first in nearly twenty years without bassist/vocalist Marco Hietala. All in all, this is another epic post that will make you want to pick up the Uilleann pipes or something cool. Some versions also include orchestral versions, so if you don’t want those boring vocals and guitars, they’ve got you covered.

To others – Never, Neverland!

The Weekly Injection. New releases from NIGHTWISH, UNTO OTHERS and more this week 9/20

Genre: Post-Punk/Gothic Rock
The origin. Portland, Oregon
Label: Century Media

Never, Neverland! another record is that it’s almost impossible to label the tracks To others people This has moments of punk, goth rock, horror metal, guitar shredding and more. There’s even the cover the ramones classic “Pet Sematary” which they nail.

Charlotte Wessels – The Obsession:

The Weekly Injection. New releases from NIGHTWISH, UNTO OTHERS and more this week 9/20

Genre: Hard Rock/Symphonic Metal
Origin: Zwolle, Netherlands
Label: Napalm

Finishing this week with the severely underrated Charlotte Wessels. The former Delaney The solo concert of the singer is a well of variety and The Obsession: further expands his voice. There are some grand metal moments that you would expect, but this record includes some djent, melodic death metal and folk. This album also has some powerful songs from Simon Simons (an epic) and Alyssa White-Glues (Arch Enemy:).
