“We were supposed to do it in May. We’d do our modest farewell run, starting with the Rosendal Garden Party in Stockholm, then a few shows here and there before it wraps up at the end of the year. The rehearsals were great, the atmosphere. It was great and two days before the show we played a secret show at Kulturhuset Femman in Uppsala. There were no pictures and it wasn’t filmed, but it was a great show, in front of maybe 60 local scenes, had a few beers. DennisStill vegan and mostly straight edge, swapping silly stories about our favorite bands. It was a pleasant evening. The next morning I get a call Dennisthe woman and a few frantic hours later it was confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack at the hotel.
“We played our first show in February 1992, same week George HW Bush and: Boris Yeltsin He held a press conference at Camp David to announce that the Cold War was over. It was that long ago. It was so long ago that I can’t quite remember who we were on the winter Saturday when we piled into the car and drove to Luleå to play 4. Gorilla Cookies songs, a Shelter a song AC/DC song and I think 3 original compositions to a crowd of 50-60 blind drunk northerners. I had just turned 17, had never traveled outside of Sweden, and by the time the band broke up in 1998, we had played over 500 shows all over Europe and the US. To say the band changed our lives would be a gross understatement, and to say we’ve gotten to know each other over those seven years, too. A touring band becomes like a family, especially when you’re doing it in a van, with maps, trying to find a gig in Halberstadt where you were supposed to start playing an hour ago. And family relationships can be difficult. That’s what happened to us.
“That’s partly why we wanted to show it again in 2012. We had a decent fling in the nineties and the split was very sudden and chaotic, there were feelings and they weren’t aired and the whole thing was like that. shows that it was almost inevitable that we would get back on the horse at some point to see what, if anything, was still there and what could be made of it Neil Young A song called “Buffalo Springfield Again” where he sings:
“I’d like to see those guys again and shoot
“Maybe now we can show the world what we’ve got
“But I’d just like to play for the fun we had.”
“And that was basically it. We featured him several times between 2012 and 2024. We all have different ideas about how it went and what the legacy of the reformed band will be, but personally I felt like we couldn’t agree on what we were doing. It was supposed to be musical, and we were still fighting it when the pandemic hit. Christopher: felt he had done what he wanted to do and left the band in August 2020, and although the death blow was delayed, it was a death blow.
“So earlier this year we started making plans to have one last big hurrah, to end the band in a fun, generous, indulgent affair. And that’s how it felt after the first show, it’s the best we’ve had. ever played and we really enjoyed ourselves throwing out old songs we haven’t played since the nineties and even Inconsistencies cover And then disaster struck. I visited Dennis The day after she was admitted to the hospital and true to form, she was not happy about the hospital gown she had to wear. Hanging from all these cars, with unshaven tousled hair, I swear the first thing he said was, I think they don’t let you wear suits either Negative approach shirts in the hospital.
“So the good news. Dennis doing great. He’s one of the healthiest guys I know, he can’t sit still, he works out a lot and makes sure his recovery is quick. He has received excellent care and his doctor has done all the physical tests on him and they all show that he is making a full recovery. Needless to say, he wants to get back on tour to play shows, and he even suggested that we should set up tentative dates for late fall and winter, but we decided to postpone those shows and start in the spring instead. So yes, here we are. We are coming to the US in March/April 2025 and we are looking at what we can do with the rest of the year, all we know is that we want to be back home in Sweden at the end of the year. Let us know if there are songs you’d like us to play and we’ll try them out. I hope to see you there.”
