Today (September 17) is National Voter Registration Day. For the occasion, Rhiannon Giddens teamed up with Joy to the Poll and HeadCount to release a new cover of Peggy Seeger’s “How I Long for Peace.” Giddens performed her new song with singer-songwriter Chris Matthews and the Resistance Revival Chorus. : Listen to the song below.

“Rhiannon, Crys and company did an amazing rendition of my song ‘How I Long for Peace,'” said Peggy Seeger. “It really works and will take this simple song to a new level. Thanks Rhianno, as always, it’s on its way.”

Giddens added: “When Kris asked me to collaborate on this, I was really excited. I’ve been a longtime fan of Peggy Seeger and I think she wrote an incredible song that says some difficult but important things and most importantly lets us all to wish for a better world.”

Rhiannon Giddens won the Pulitzer Prize for music last year. He followed up his win with an album You are the only one.
