Warning: Contains spoilers for Multiverse: Clash Detected #3!Superman can rightly be described as the most powerful superhero in any universe (many of them death war DBZ’s victory over Goku is proof enough of that), and Rick and MortyIts Rick Sanchez proves himself to be the smartest man in the multiverse. And now, these luminaries of unparalleled power and unmatched intelligence are about to go head-to-head with the perfect first move.

A preview for Multiverse: Collision detected #3 by Bryan Q. Miller and Jon Sommariva, DC’s greatest heroes team up with some of Warner Bros.’ most iconic characters to battle villains across the multiverse. This comic series sent these characters on a multifaceted collision course, where Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo and the Wicked Witch of the West found themselves in the DC Universe. And now, another Warner Bros.-owned character has also found his way into the world of DC: Rick Sanchez.

Mayhem in the city tomorrow! Metropolis’ new city-wide battle has it all: Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, a baby with a shiny round Tum-Tum gem, a sprite-sized Dark Knight, and… Head. (It’s the thing where Brainiac’s code gets overwritten by an alcoholic scientist who can’t be bothered to hang around for the whole thing!)

As described in the official synopsis for this issue, Rick was able to overwrite Brainiac’s code and take complete control over the alien/AI supervillain. In true ‘Rick fashion’, the alcoholic super-genius even transforms Brainiac’s ship into his own face, letting DC’s heroes know exactly who is terrorizing them. Rick is using Brainiac’s technology to launch a wave of deadly android drones for the heroes, a bold first step that will soon attract the attention of the Man of Steel himself.

Rick and Morty’s Rick vs. DC Superman: Who Will Win?

From Rick and Morty to Superman and Rick side by side.

While Superman is undoubtedly stronger than Rick Sanchez in terms of inherent strength, Rick’s inventive genius makes him a worthy opponent, even without Brainiac’s technology. throughout the course Rick and MortyRick has worked with the ancient gods of war – including Lovecraftian Old Ones like Reggie and Cthulhu, named ‘Zeus’ – and galactic (and even multidimensional) empires like the Galactic Federation and Rick’s Fortress. Not only that, Rick also has the superhuman ability to discover any weapon he needs at any time, even in the heat of battle.

Superman is definitely not a slouch. Throughout his DC history, Superman has punched through dimensions, dragged an entire galaxy to a new location in space (when he was just a boy, no less), and destroyed an entire solar system with a single sneeze. Even putting aside his more impossibly impressive feats, Superman is still nearly indestructible, which would render virtually all of Rick’s gadgets useless—even those he acquired after hijacking Brainiac. However, when fighting an opponent like Rick, it takes a battle-ending blow for Superman before Sanchez discovers a weapon that will work against him.

Rick’s reckless indifference could save the DC Universe

It’s safe to assume that Rick doesn’t really care about this ‘VS battle’ at all

Rick and Morty's Rick with a bored expression.

Although Rick presents himself as a deadly threat to the entire DC Universe in this preview, the synopsis makes it clear that Rick “Couldn’t be bothered to hang around for the whole issue” That means he probably found himself in the DC Universe, took over Brainiac because he could, and then used his portal gun to get back home.

That would be the best case scenario, because if Rick really wanted to, it’s safe to assume he’d build a kryptonite weapon to kill Superman, destroy the world starting tomorrow, and come home for dinner. But, based on what fans know about Rick and what this synopsis gives away, he probably won’t be doing any of that, as he’s not interested in exerting himself so much for something so ‘meaningless’.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that Rick won’t stop this attack until he stops, leading to a direct confrontation with Superman that could go either way (indeed, super-geniuses have attacked Superman with kryptonite weapons before, to no avail). However, fans will have to wait for the full issue to know for sure. Until then, they’re left with the perfect first step featured in this preview, which could lead to DC superman war Rick and MortyIts Rick Sanchez.
