It’s lights, camera, action in Week 7 of this season of So You Think You Can Dance. Two more dancers were sent home last week, narrowing our top 8 down to a top 6, and it’s safe to say the competition is really heating up.

This week saw the top 6 dancers take on a whole new challenge. movies. And to make it to the silver screen, they were joined by two of our favorite choreographers of all time. So in case you didn’t catch last night’s episode, here’s everything you missed. And… action!

For their movie night challenge, the dancers worked with two legendary: film choreographers: Chris Scott and Jamal Sims – and were split into two groups to begin. The first group working with Chris Scott had Easton Maggiarditi, Madison Rouge Alvarado and Jaelyn Sanders. The second group working with Jamal Sims includes Mariah Hawkins, Anthony Curley and Dakayla Wilson. That’s right, members of our regular show, Anthony and Dakayla, had the chance to work together again.

The first 6 got the right to work on their mini-movies. Chris’s team started on: In the heights: number set to the song “When the Sun Goes Down.” And ICYMI, Chris was the choreographer of In the heights: film, so naturally the pressure was on indeed for this team.

The second group working with Jamal began their work Free:– an inspired routine. The twist? Their film will be: Free: answers: Frankensteinwith Anthony as Maria and Dakayla’s monster/human.

Soon after, the dancers trade the dance studio for the film studio. They were joined by the judges, who caught all the super exclusive behind-the-scenes content, including which dancers are slaying and which are struggling. Jaylin, in particular, seemed to be having a harder time. “He just doesn’t have the knowledge of his own body yet,” Allison Holker said.

After he calmed down on set, it was time to hear what the judges thought. First they watched Chris’ team on the big screen. And while Jaelyn was doing her best to hold her position, she seemed to be lagging behind the other two dancers. Madison, on the other hand, was a standout, with the judges praising her acting and portrayal of the character.

Next up is the film from Jamal’s team. The judges were particularly impressed with Anthony who was definitely the star of the show. But after watching their performance, Mariah was disappointed with her own performance. “I’m really proud of the work I think I put in, and I guess I think I’m a little disappointed with the result because it felt so different than it looks,” she said.

Finally it’s time for the results. The judges chose the three dancers who were voted safe, leaving the other three at risk of being sent home. After much deliberation, Jaylin, Mariyah and Dakayla were left at risk of elimination. But luckily, this week only one dancer would be sent home out of the three.

While Jaylin and Mariyah’s sudden death solos were a bit more subtle, Dakayla made it big and the judges were impressed. In the end, both she and Mariah were chosen to dance for another week, and Jaylin was sent home. “There’s a lot more up my sleeve that people don’t know I do. This is just the beginning,” he said.

It was the finale of Week 7. With only five dancers left, who do you think will win the title of America’s Favorite Dancer?
