White stripes are suing former President Donald J. Trump for unauthorized use of their 2003 an elephant “Seven Nation Army” in a campaign video released last month by Margot Martin, Trump’s deputy communications director. Both Meg and Jack White are named as co-plaintiffs in the lawsuit, which alleges six counts of copyright infringement.
The suit alleges that Trump and his campaign “chose to ignore and fail to respond to the plaintiffs’ pre-trial efforts to resolve the issues at issue in this case” and instead “indiscriminately violated the plaintiffs’ legal rights.” It also states that the White Stripes “strongly opposes the policies and actions adopted by Defendant Trump while he was President and those he has proposed for the second term he is seeking.”
The lawsuit, filed today in New York federal court, ends Jack White’s Promise take legal action against Trump and his campaign. In a good post Instagram: today he wrote: “This car sues the fascists.” Pitchfork reached out to White Stripes representatives and attorney Robert A. Jacobs for further comments.
