A gathering spot outside a residence |

DECK |
the balcony |
STOOP |
yard |
All these things though Definitely outside of a residenceIt’s a little weird that they added that it had to be a gathering place. None of these are exclusively gathering places, even if they can all be gathering places. It’s an odd nuance, but since there isn’t much difference in this category with or without it, I don’t think it matters.

SCOOP |
This was difficult. Although I knew for sure that DISH, INFO and SCOOP were here, I couldn’t get the fourth word. DOPE has a much more vague meaning than everyone uses it for, probably with good reason, and I’m not sure anyone would actually use it that way regardless of what the Cambridge Dictionary says. However, if you want to have a good laugh, Read the sample sentences it gives for this definition.

Blooper |

SIZZLE |
BLOOPER put me in this category, and it was the easiest I could solve today. Demos and highlights were easy picks to add to the category. SIZZLE was the last and it was a bit of a guess, but luckily it turned out to be correct and all that Reel had to do with different types. Which was funny to me, because when I saw the blooper I saw through the word “reel”.

Cartoon Dog Minus “Y” |

---|---|---|---|
drop |
GOOF |
LAD |
Snoop |
This seems kind of impossible Until you see the category name when it becomes clearer. GOOF and SNOOP are the most obvious characters here, but the other two are distinctive enough that most people can guess it. No other word in the puzzle really screams “dog” the way these do, which is usually enough to make a properly educated guess.
