Sarah Lund, drummer with post-hardcore greats Unwound, is racking up medical and living expenses after being diagnosed with breast cancer. GoFundMe posts written by Lund and Janet Weiss explain that Lund has undergone a lumpectomy and radiation therapy, and will soon begin endocrine therapy. The money raised will cover “medical bills and health expenses outside of insurance,” as well as living and working expenses. The $25,000 goal has already been exceeded, but you can contribute more here. “Let’s show Sarah that we wouldn’t dream of leaving her alone,” Weiss wrote.
Unwound is set to embark on a West Coast tour before heading to Australia, where Lund is set to play all the shows. In her post on the GoFundMe page, she wrote that when the diagnosis came, “I realized that I was never really afraid of dying from it. My main concern was how it would affect my ability to play drums and how soon I could get back behind the kit and how the surgery and recovery would interfere with the Unwound tours we had booked for this year.” He added: “Having spent most of this year as a cancer patient, I’ve been holding on to the dream of being able to play these upcoming shows, and it was a huge morale boost when I finally knew I was going to do it.”
