The 2020s have been a big decade so far for Venom and its symbiote relatives. They undergo massive changes in their lore as Carnage rises to god-like status and Venom seeks a new host. However, a new account of Venom’s time with Peter Parker has uncovered something incredibly sinister in his lore.




In Spider-Man: Black Suit and Blood #2, the story “Shock and Awe” – written by Greg Wiseman and Javi Fernandez – sees Peter wake up in a mysterious dark environment. An ominous voice is heard saying to him as he tries to understand what is going on.go back to sleep“and”let go everything is fine

He quickly discovers that it’s actually the Venom symbiote, and his body is being manipulated to fight Shocker while he’s unconscious. It’s a horrible scene Peter finds himself in, but Even scarier is how it relates to one of the elements of horror get out: sunken place.



Venom takes control of Peter’s body by pushing it into his mind, which is like a “drowning place” when it comes out.

This terrifying place she finds herself floating without a voice is called the “Sunken Place”, which is used to push a person down into a small part of their mind as they are forced to watch a whole new person pilot their body. This happens after a gruesome operation called Coagula.


In a similar fashion, Black suit and blood It does a fantastic job exploring Venom’s terrifying side, and This choice to mirror Sunken Place is an interesting way to expand Marvel’s symbiote mythos. It has previously been confirmed that Venom can control its host’s body from time to time, as Peter will find himself waking up in strange places. However, it’s Venom taking complete control of its mind and forcing its host’s personality into a dark void when it’s asleep or unconscious, creating a terrifying new take on the symbiote.

What’s interesting about this change in Venom’s lore is what it means for how it interacts with some of its more compatible hosts. Although it liked being tied to Spider-Man, the two weren’t exactly the best match for each other, as Peter ended up fighting the parasite when he realized how much it had changed him. However, when Eddie Brock was introduced to Venom, the two needn’t have been at odds. Venom finds himself a perfect match in Eddie, cementing the two as a unit. Because of this, Eddie probably never saw the Void because he didn’t need Venom to keep him there.

This is finally the proposal Venom guards this mysterious void for those who disobey him. When the symbiote comes into conflict with its host body, it can easily push their brain functions into a version of sunken space, so it can take control for the time being. This is an awesome update of Venom To take a page out of having lore, and character Jordan Peeleof Acclaimed film get out This makes it a great way to connect with one of the most refreshing concepts in modern horror.
